New Australian DMR+IpSC2 settings

Just a quick post about how to setup PiStar and your codeplug to work with the new DMR+IPSC2 server

The new IPSC2 server allows for a wider range of connection options, in that it not only supports access via TalkGroup 9 via a reflector (e.g. Reflector 4800 = DMR+ TG505), but also now supports direct transfer of the TalkGroup being transmitted by the transceiver into the server.

To use the new feature, you will need to change your PiStar settings if you have a Brandmeister / DMR + configuration, using DMR Gateway to only connect to DMR+ISC2 Australia

The trick to get this to work, is also to set some Static Routes in the Options e.g. in my case

TS2_1=505;TS2_2=3803;TS1_1=113;TS1_2=123

This tells the server that you want to route traffic on TS2 TG505, TS2 TG3803 and TS1 TG113 and TS1 TG123 back to your hotspot.

If you don’t add these options, the sever will only route traffic on TG9 back to your hotspot and you will not hear any traffic at all.

Additionally, the codeplug in the transceiver needs to be changed, so that you transmit to the hotspot on your chosen TalkGroups (not just TG8 or TG9), and also these TG’s must be in the Rx Group you assign for the channel.

i.e Basically the hotspot operates in a very similar manor to a real repeater, except in most cases people are running a simplex hotspot, so it can’t both transmit and receive at the same time.

In my case I’m running a duplex hotspot, which will transmit and receive at the same time and work on both TS1 and TS2 independently.

Note. I have not tested whether the normal Jumbospot – simplex hotspots will support both TS1 and TS2 operation so I’d advise testing with just TS2 options first
